The FCT Administration has declared readiness to collaborate with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on boosting the capacity of teachers in the education sector.
Making this assertion, Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, who noted the contribution of JICA to education and other areas in the country, said the FCT Administration will continue to partner with the Agency in training its teachers in areas that it believe will required most.
Wike, who spoke when JICA delegation, led by Yuzurio Susumu visited him, in Abuja, recently recalled that during his reign as the minister of state for education, the Agency contributed well to education activities nationwide.
He said: “I’m aware of JICA activities in Nigeria as the former minister of state education, I know the activities in education,their efforts to improving access on quality of education, i commend the Agency for sustaining it up till now and by carrying it to FCT.
“Their activities in agriculture particularly deals with nutrition is highly commended and the training you will be having for our mothers for the sake of our children in making sure our children have nutritious foods that will aid their health, so we want to sincerely commend you for that.
“Most of your projects you have completed particularly about water project, we believe we can still sustain our relationship by making sure that we put more efforts to see all the activities lined up are completed within the time frame that is scheduled, we on our part will do all we can to see that we fulfill our own obligations too in matching your own support.
“So, we know that JICA is not one of those international organizations that come to make promises without fulfilling them, I have no doubt of your capacity I know you will continue to do more for us, so this administration is willing to cooperate with you more, we would like to achieve more for our people.”
In his remarks, Susumu promised to sustain its activities in the country, especially the nation’s capital, Abuja.
He listed areas that will be receiving serious attention to include ; education, water and sanitation, agriculture and nutrition.
