FG flags-off distribution of 42,000 metric tons of assorted food commodities in Niger

Federal government has commenced the distribution of 42,000 metric tons of assorted food commodities from the National Strategic Reserve under the custody of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
The Director General, National Emergency Management Agency NEMA, Zubaida Umar made this known while flagging off the distribution to the 25 LGAs in Minna, Niger state capital.
She stated that Niger State has been allocated 550 Metric tons of maize (11,000 bags of 50kg), 650 Metric tons of sorghum (13,000 bags of 50kg), 237.5 Metric tons of millet (4,750 bags of 50kg) respectively.
According to her, President Tinubu had directed that 20% of the food items due for each LGA should be given to religious organizations (JNI & CAN) and 3% to be given to boarding schools in the LGAs.
Zubaida Umar further revealed that this year highly probable flood risk areas in Niger State are Agwara, Bida, Magama, Muya, Agaie, Shiroro, Bosso, Kontagora, Gurara, Chanchaga, Rafi and Lavun Local Government Areas of the state.
The Agency Director General urged all the thirty State Governors to evolve strategies to address flooding.
