The immediate past senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sen. Philip Tanimu Aduda has formally announced his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Aduda who arrived the National Secretariait of the APC in Abuja in company of hundreds of his supporters went into a closedoor meeting with the National Chairman of the party, Prof. Nantawe Yilwatda.
The defection of Aduda has been long awaited following his closeness with the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike who has been campaigning and working for the success of candidates of the APC.
Speaking to newsmen after the meeting, Aduda who was full of excitement said he will attract a huge number of voters for President Bola Tinubu in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election.
He said the just concluded Area Councils election in the FCT where the APC won five out of the six chairmanship seats, is a pointer to what to expect from the territory in the presidential election.
“I have a lot of support for the president in the 2027 general election, because like the state chairman rightfully said, he said I was the problem here. And that any time there was a problem about winning the election, it had to do with me.
“And so I’ve decided to align and realign and bring myself and then work for Mr. President. I’m sure we’ll close to victory by the special grace of God. It will not be anything difficult.
“You can see at the last Area Council elections, what happened. We collaborated and came together and we had five over six. And I can assure you that it will be six over six in the presidential election. And by the special grace of God, we will deliver for Mr. President from 2027”.
When asked if he had formally joined the APC, Aduda replied: “Of course, I have formally joined the APC”.
In his remarks, the National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda said he is happy with the latest defection into his party because it is in like with the current development where those he identified as progressives are joining the party.
According to Yilwatda, the opposition politicians are joining the APC following the progressive programmes of the party and the leadership qualities of the president anchored on his Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Because of the progressive nature of APC and the programmes of Mr. President to the Renewed Hope Agenda, every progressive in Nigeria is queuing behind us. And that is why thousands and millions of Nigerians every day wake up and they think of APC as the only alternative they have to deliver a progressive political structure in Nigeria.
“From the programmes that we’re implementing, they’re all progressive. So projects that you would never think would happen in Nigeria, we’re delivering them. We’re making reforms that have never happened in Nigeria. See the economic growth, see the structure of the economy, development that’s going on in Nigeria. Every right-thinking progressive is with us right now and he’s one of them”.
The National Chairman further boasted that with the coming of Aduda, he is convinced that the North Central is ready to be delivered to the APC.
