Flood: Kebbi govt distributes relief item worth N200m to victims

Following the recent flood disaster that affected some farmlands and residents in kebbi state, yesterday the Kebbi State Government commenced the distribution of relief materials and money worth over N200m to the affected victims.
Briefing newsmen in his office, the state chairman of the Emergency Management Agency(SEMA) Alhaji Sani Dododo said that gesture was part of the government commitment towards reducing the suffering of the people.
“We have commenced the immediate distribution of relief materials worth over N200 million comprising of food and roofing materials to all flood victims across 21 local government areas of the state,” he added
Dododo who was on inspection tour to the two stores, where some of the items were kept in Birnin- Kebbi on Wednesday threatened that the state government would punish any government official who tampered with the victim’s items.
Our correspondent reports that about seven local government areas in the state were devastated by the flood while other councils along River Niger banks recorded loss of lives and property The items to be distributed are, bags of millets, maize, guinea corn,rice, roofing sheets, bags of cements, cloths, rubber buckets,blankets and other households items.
The local governments that are going to benefit are seven local governments which include: Dandi,Koko-Besse,Zuru, Dakingeri, Bagudo, Nganski,Yauri and Shanga local governments.
He admonished members of the committee to be committed to the job while threatening that anyone found in irregular acts would face the law.
