” Today, we are here for something bigger than a campaign. We are here for a commitment. A commitment to a Nigeria where no child goes to bed hungry. and where hunger is not a life sentence handed down by circumstance.
of the total number of undernourished people globally, more than one-third live in Africa 282 million people. Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) accounts for almost one-third of the global total, or 724 million people facing moderate or severe food Insecurity.
The IFRC, with the Nigeriàn Red Cross and Societies in Africa region, each with its countrywide network of branches and thousands of committed volunteers at community level, is uniquely and well placed to play a critical role in the fight against hunger in Africa.
This ambitious program is designed to addresses the cyche nature of shocks and crises. necessitating a comprehensive approach from early action to long-term development. The initiative emphasizes the rehabilitation of water points, recovery of key livelihood assets, and promotion of climate-smart and nutntion-sensitive agricultural practices.
It also focuses on enhancing access to affordable financial services, market participation, and value chain integration. Protection and restoration of ecosystems are integral to this strategy, along with the construction of climate-smart water points and strengthening of community self-help groups such as Mothers Clubs.
by integrating anticipatory and shock-responsive social protection mechanisms, the Initiative aims to prepare communities for climate and socioeconomic shocks. ensuring that livelihoods are sustainably strengthened and adapted to climate charge
The Nigerian Red Cross Society, in collaboration with the IFRC and our partners across goverment, humanitarian agencies. and the private sector, is proud to launch the Zero Hunger initiative.
This concept encompasses several key dimensions: such as availability, Access, Utilization, Stability and sustainability.

According to her the recent reports that nearly 25 million Nigerians face food insecurity annually, with children under five most vulnerable to stunting and wasting, Malnutrition is not just a health issue; it is a developmental crisis that undermines education, productivity, and national growth.
” This is why the Zero Hunger Campaign is not just a slogan, but a moral and national imperative.
The Zero Hunger Lunch initiative is designed as a symbolic and practical intervention: because it reminds us that every Nigerian child deserves at least one nutritious meal a day Practical, because it demonstrates how community-driven, low-cost, and sustainable models can be scaled to address hunger.
by convening stakeholders today, we are not only sharing a meal but also sharing a vision, one where no Nigerian goes to bed hungry.
The Mothers’ Club Model is a durable Solution at the heart of this campaign lies the NRCS Mothers’ Club Model, a grassroots Community based innovation that empowers women as custodians of nutrition, health, and community resilience.
