Leventis Foundation Nigerià, a non-governmental organization focused on training young people in modern and sustainable agriculture to increase food security and livelihoods has train and empowered 31 thousand Youths in agric business with sizable numbers of them been members of the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC).

Alhaji Ahmed Manti stated this recently during the opening ceremony of the 2025 Leventis Foundation Nigerià and NYSC Agricultural Youth Summit in Abuja.

It is my delight to be with you on this momentous occasion of the 2025 Agricultural Youth Summit 2025, jointly organized by Leventis Foundation Nigeria and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).This gathering reflects a shared commitment to one of the most pressing issues of our time; the empowerment of Nigerian youth through sustainable agriculture and agribusiness development.

” Today’s theme, “Building Youth & Agripreneurs Resilience for Agribusiness through Targeted Upskilling and Innovative Agri-finance Mechanisms,” is both timely and visionary. It captures the essence of what we must do as a nation; to equip our young people with not just skills, but with resilience, creativity, and access to resources that will enable them to thrive in a rapidly changing agricultural landscape for over three decades, the Leventis Group has remained deeply invested in Nigeria’s agricultural and human capital development. Through the Leventis Foundation Nigeria, established in 1988, our mission has been clear , to build the capacity of young Nigerians to become self-reliant, productive, and impactful in the agricultural sector.With training schools in different parts of the country, including Abuja, Kaduna, Osun, Kano and Gombe States, we have successfully trained and equipped over 31,000 young Nigerians and farmers with modern agricultural and entrepreneurship skills. ” Let me begin by appreciating the Leventis Foundation Nigeria a visionary institution whose legacy in agricultural education and youth empowerment dates back decades. Since the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between NYSC and LFN in 2021, this partnership has blossomed into one of the most impactful collaborations under the SAED (Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development) programme of the scheme.Through this partnership, Corps Members have been exposed to modern agricultural training, internships, and agribusiness development programs at LFN’s renowned agricultural schools located across the country. From Osun to Gombe, Kano to the FCT, batches of young Nigerians are being equipped with the tools, skills, and mindset to become agripreneurs.This is not just about farming; it is about building a generation of self-reliant, job-creating, and economically empowered youths who will take agriculture to new heights of innovation and enterprise.Agribusiness, when correctly positioned, is more than a livelihood it is nation-building in action. By integrating agricultural value chains with entrepreneurship, innovation, and sustainability, we are enabling youth to:Secure our food systems, reducing overreliance on imports and strengthening national resilience according to the NYSC DG.

Mr Hope Usieta, Executive Director, Leventis Foundation in his opening remarks disclose that Leventis foundation remain stead fast in their commitment to building capacity for improved livelihoods and explained their strategy in the agricultural sector has been to present youths and farmers with opportunities & innovations that improve their productivity, scale their agribusinesses and increase incomes

Todays summit would advance solutions as the theme indicates, with the tailored activities such as workshops on business formalization and digital tools for agribusiness growth as well as panel session on mainstreaming Agri finance in agribusiness, and key stakeholder remarks from development banks and partners as well as the agricultural grant.

I commend LFN’s partnership with NYSC through its Skills acquisition and Enterpreneurship department (SAED) because it has availed us the opportunity to reach out to more youths. Through the LFN-SAED partnership, 40 corps members have undergone agribusiness training and internship across LFN’s schools, and about 50 are currently undergoing agribusiness training across Leventis foundation Nigeria training schools.

We also have quality and colorful exhibitions from corporate organizations, agribusinesses, Ex Corp members, and Ex trainees of the Leventis Foundation NIgeria Agricultural Training Schools and other agribusinesses.

It is our believe that this summit will continue to strengthen the agriculture system and advance economic development in Nigeria. Usieta said.

Highlights was the presentation of Grant to the selected young beneficiaries.
