In respect to its mission of uplifting communities, the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has made a donation of twenty million Naira (20,000,000) to support the victims of the recent floods in Maiduguri.
This was contained in a statement, signed by the Director – General of the Foundation, Engr. Dr Abubakar Gambo Umar and made available to the media in Kaduna, yesterday.
This comes after a sympathy visit to the Executive Governor of Borno State, His Excellency Engr. Babagana Umara Zulum FNSE, CON, at the Government House in Maiduguri on Monday, September 23, 2024.
The delegation from the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation was led by the Director General, Engr. Abubakar Gambo Umar expressed their heartfelt condolences of the Foundation to the government and the people of Borno State.
He offered sympathies for the loss of lives, destruction of properties, and the impact on local businesses that the floods have caused.
Engr. Umar emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the affected communities during this challenging time and prayed for a swift recovery from the devastating effects of the floods.
“We urge all well-meaning Nigerians and members of the international community to join us in assisting Borno State in its recovery efforts,” said Engr. Umar.
“Together, we can help rebuild lives and restore hope to those affected by this calamity.”
Similarly, the delegation also paid their respects to the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El Kanemi CFR, and offered prayers for the flood victims and the state’s recovery.
In his response, the Executive Governor of Borno State, Engr Babangana Umara Zulum expressed his appreciation to the Foundation and assured that the donated funds will be judiciously used to ameliorate the suffering of the victims of the recent floods disaster.
