Gombe speaker assures speedy passage of chieftaincy bill ACT

Speaker Gombe state House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim has assured speedy passage of chieftaincy bill ACT with a view to harmonize differences that affects development within chiefdoms.
Hon. Sadiq gave the assurance on Tuesday during a public hearing organized by the House of Assembly Joint Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Judiciary.
He explained that even before now, Nigeria colonized under British rule has its traditional institutions with their rulers.
Speaking further, Gombe speaker said Emirs and Chiefs who were undone by the colonial rule served as important personalities during post colonial government until 1976 when local government reform reduced these powers.
