The Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has charged newly swon-in chairmen and members of the Caretaker Management Committees of the 17 Local Government Councils on peacebuilding, empowerment and finding a lasting solution to farmers-herders conflicts in their communities.
He also warned against mismanagement of public resources in the local government councils.
The governor also announced May 2024 for the conduct of the local government council election to further deepen the democratic processes at the grassroots level.
Governor Buni disclosed this shortly after he presided the swearing-in and oath-taking ceremony of the newly reappointed Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Caretaker Management Committees at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Damaturu.
He noted that Local Government administration, as the third tier of Government, remains the closest administration to the people at the grassroots, hence the need to ensure its efficiency for effective service delivery to the majority of the population.
“As you assumed office today, you should pay special attention to farmer/grazers relationships at this period of farm harvests, the migration of herdsmen and the general harmony in your respective local government areas.”
