The Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund for its significant role in advancing educational infrastructure to improve teaching and learning across Nigeria.
Speaking during the 2024 TETFUND Management Retreat in Calabar, Otu, represented by his deputy, Peter Odey, acknowledged the indispensable contributions of TETFund to higher education.
He stated that without the Fund’s interventions, university education in the country would face immense challenges, emphasising that “higher education in the country cannot be without TETFund.”
The governor urged the fund to remain steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education and reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to partnering with the Fund to improve education in Cross River State.
The Executive Secretary, TETFund Arch. Sonny Echono, highlighted the Fund’s progress in reforming and scaling up its interventions through collaboration with its Board and the Minister of Education.
He noted that these efforts align with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to make Nigeria’s higher education system more responsive to the needs of students, scholars, and other stakeholders.
