Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has written to the State House of Assembly seeking for approval of N94bn, 676m ,60,000 naira as 2024 supplementary budget.
The Governor’s request was read by the Majority leader Babayo Mohammad Akuyam on the floor of the House during plenary presided over by the Speaker, Abubakar Y. Sulaiman.
Governor Bala is seeking for the approval in pursuant of section 122 of the federal Republic of Nigeria in order to accelerate and execute priority projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of Bauchi citizens.
Akuyam said, the Governor in the letter reiterated his administration commitment to focussing on infrastructural development, human capital development, improving the health and educational sector.
Meanwhile, the State House of assembly has established Food Security and Nutrition Committee.
Presenting a motion on the established committee, the House Majority leader Babayo Mohammed Akuyam said the committee was constituted with a view to attaining optimal nutrition status for the citizens of Bauchi with focus on the most vulnerable especially women and children as well as internally Displaced persons.
He said the Jurisdictions of the committee includes, to ensure that food and nutrition activities under the state ministry of budget, economic planing and multilateral coordination are implemented in line with the National Multi sectoral strategic plan of action for food and nutrition and to ensure reduction of the proportion of people who suffer hunger and malnutrition.
