Group accuses SGF of favoritism in appointments

A group known as Zone A Peoples’ Assembly, ZAPA has accused the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,SGF Sen. George Akume of favoritism in appointment from the State.
The group at a press conference in Makurdi yesterday, called on the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation the Tor Tiv Odhivirigh James Ayatese to caution the SGF not to seek his own personal interest but the overall interest of the State.
Presisent of ZAPA Fannen Mondo who lauded Sen. Akume as an illustrious son that has contributed immensely to the political development of Tiv nation and the entire State, observed his seeming rift between him and Governor Hyacinth Alia and urged the Tor Tiv to also, intervene in this direction.
They pointed out that the SGF has given appointment to individuals from his axis(Jemghagh) mentioning the ministerial nominee Prof. Joseoh Utsev who hitherto was the Rector of Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, Akume:s home country and his replacement by Terver Dajoh, a brother to the SGF.
“We are a socio cultural, non partisan organization interested in peace and progress of Tiv nation.
“We frown at the nomination and confirmation of Joseph Utsev from Jemghagh by the SGF as minister, this act defeats the logic of brotherliness. Then the appointment of Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Center given to another Jemghagh son. 11 persons sat for the position and Terhemba Hwande a MINDA man emerged top.
“When Akume was governor in 1999 he ensured that a person from Jemghagh was Minister, Suswam changed the narrative. This time, the ministerial slot should have come from zone A. Yet he chose someone from the same axis and replaced the Ministerial nominee with Terver Dajoh who is his kith and Kin.
“The position of SGF is a big one such that if he carries everyone along, it will bring about development rather than fanning the emblems of war. “
