A Group under the auspices of Kunav United Development Association (KUDA,) has called for the empowerment and resettlement of all Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs,) in the country as the farming season approaches, adding that governments of States like Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger and Zamfara should step up efforts to empower IDPs via skills acquisition.
The President of the Association, Comrade Atule Emmanuel, made the call in his speech during the Maidan interactive session held in Kaduna, yesterday.
Comrade Emmanuel said that the essence of the session was to sustain unity amongst the Tiv Community in Nigeria, especially in KUDA to ensure peace in the land.
He opined that the empowerment and resettlement of IDPs will help to stabilize the nation’s economy as they will, in turn, support the government in nation-building through their established businesses.
While commending the efforts of Benue State Governor Rev Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for the massive projects executed, he revealed the Group’s plan to set up an ICT centre that will empower youths through skills acquisition.
“We are specifically concerned about the high volume of Internally Displaced People in Northern Nigerian States of Benue, Kaduna, Plateau and others, the people need resettlement in their ancestral homes, they need empowerment and all of these can’t happen without Peace and Unity in the Land.
“We call on governments of Benue and Kaduna States to sustain Peace in the land for Clementine’s business environment.”
