A recent call by People Living with Disabilities (PwDs) in Politics for President Bola Tinubu to appoint Hon. Tolu Bankole as Minister for People with Disabilities has raised eyebrows, sparking concerns about the group’s true intentions and level of understanding of the nation’s governance structure.
The demand, which has been widely criticized, is not only misinformed but also lacks substance because there is no Ministry for People with Disabilities in Nigeria.
This glaring oversight has led many to question the group’s credibility and expertise on disability matters.
In a press statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna yesterday, the Deputy National Coordinator of the Coalition of Concerned Arewa Civil Society Organisations, Comrade Haruna Mohammed, expressed disappointment at the group’s approach, noting that those calling for Bankole’s appointment lack relevant knowledge on politics.
Haruna questioned the group’s audacity in making demands for ministerial positions, even when they had never contributed anything to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC.
Haruna asked, “What has PwDs in Politics done for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to warrant such a significant demand”.
