Hajj: Ahmadu Bello int’l airport to commence airlift soon

The newly completed Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, in Kebbi state will soon commence airlifting of pilgrims for this year’s hajj.

Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after testing the plane to airlift pilgrims towards taking-off of 2014 Hajj exercise, the Captain of Boeing 747 air plane, Mr. Sean Caeson said the airport has one of the best plane landing facilities across the country.

He expressed satisfaction over the performance of the Kebbi state government which has provided dividends of democracy to the good people of Kebbi state by giving them a standard airport, assured them that the 2014 pilgrims would commence smoothly ’’ he added.

Responding, the Kebbi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Saidu Dakingari who also expressed happiness over the completion of the airport assured the people of Kebbi state that Kebbi pilgrims would no longer go through Sokoto airport as the state owned airport has been completed.

‘’ this airport would increase the revenue generation as well as improve tourism in the state’’ he explained.

Also speaking, the state Commissioner of Works and Transport, Alhaji Ruwa Dakingari assured the people that government would ensure regular maintenance of the airport adding that the staff, fire fighting equipment and security personnel have been recruited to man the airport after their training.
