The newly appointed director for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Board, Malam Bashir Muhammad, resumed office yesterday, calling on the staff of the board to be honest and diligent in discharging their duties.
While addressing staff of the board, Bashir warned them against any act capable of tarnishing the image of the board and the country at large.
He stressed the need for the staff to be dedicated to their duty and abide by rules and regulations of the board, saying the board the will not condone any act of corruption and in discipline.
The director therefore solicited for the cooperation of all staff and other stakeholders to ensure the success of this year’s Hajj exercise.
He equally reassured the commitment of the board to provide first class services to the FCT intending pilgrims to ensure a hitch free exercise.
Earlier, while receiving the new director, the deputy director, Operations of the Board, Malam AbdurRahim Muhammad Yahaya, assured the new director of readiness of the staff of the board toward the success of the operation.
He said the board is making efforts to improve from record more successes in this year’s hajj operation.
Peoples Daily reports that until his appointment, Malam Bashir Muhammad who took over from Hajiya Fatima Sulaiman Gummi, was the director Security Services of the FCTA.
A total of 2497 intending pilgrims are expected to perform this year’s hajj exercise through the board.
