The Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU), has directed its members to withdraw skeletal services across the country as it calls for total industrial action, vowing not to recall until the Federal Government do the needful.
Briefing pressmen in Abuja, yesterday, JOHESU Chairman, Dr. Ayuba Wabba condemned the brutal handling of some members of the union by the police in some hospitals, reiterating that the action is against the universal industrial relation norm.
Dr. Wabba accused the federal government of indifference and bias towards the health workers’ welfare and well being.
He explained that despite the union’s magnanimity, in avoiding strike actions, the federal government has continuously stalled commencement of roundtable talks by refusing to attend reconciliation meetings.
“We have had two meetings without meaningful progress; but most sadly is the lack of commitment and seriousness on the part of Federal Ministry of Health, during both and also in between meetings.
