Hoodlums hold party for fleeing gang members from Benin prisons

Suspected hoodlums have held a reception party in honour of their gang members and friends who escaped from the Nigerian Correctional Centres (NCC) break in Benin City, Edo State Capital.
On Tuesday, the hoodlums were heard chanting anti-security and president Buhari slogan boasted that they are now ready to confront anyone who dare them, a development that spurned residents of the area.
The ‘victory parties’ were held simultaneously at Upper Sakponba road, Esigie street and Murtala Mohammed (M.M) way in Benin.
They also sang anti-rival cult group songs and challenged their rivals to a fight.
Recall that over 2,000 inmates is said to be missing at the Oko and Sapele road correctional centres in Benin City, after hoodlums attacked the facility on Monday.
It was gathered that some of the fleeing inmates been celebrated were serving various jail terms for offences bordering on murder and armed robbery.
The hoodlums had hijacked the ongoing peaceful nationwide protest against police brutality and human rights violation and launched a violent attack on the Correctional Centres.
Besides, the group also looted the armoury of Ugbekun and Idogbo police divisions before setting the facilities ablaze.
The State police spokesman, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, could not be reached for comment.
Recall that Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki had on Wednesday issued a 48 hours ultimatum to escapee inmates to return back to their detention facilities or incur the wrath of the law.
