The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said the continuous collection and registration for Permanent Voters Card in Lagos state will continue till January 2015.

The Lagos state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Kunle Ogunmola Ogunmola, gave this assurance yesterday in Lagos at the public awareness programme on Lagos state Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), organized by the Women Arise for Change Initiative and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

He stressed the need for people who have not collected their permanent voters card to come out and do so, adding that the commission implores everybody to participate in the ongoing activity so as not to disenfranchise any citizens of the state.

He noted that the commission is trying its best to make the election what he described as ‘One man One vote’, urging the citizens to make sure they don’t engage in multiple registration.

On her part, the President, Women Arise Initiative, Joe Odumakin, urged lagosians to take advantage of the continuous voters registration to registers and get their voters card, saying this is the only way they will be seen as eligible voters.

Odumakin urged political parties and politicians to create more awareness for the citizens of the state by letting people know they can still come out and register, so as not to disenfranchise any individual who is eligible to vote in 2015.
