Insecurity: Taraba govt donates 35 Toyota Hilux vans to police

Taraba State Governor has donated thirty-five Toyota Hilux vans to the State Police Command.

The State Acting Govern or Alhaji Garba Umar says the donation is in line with government resolution to give security the most top priority attention.

Umar said the thirty-five vehicles were for the maintenance of peace throughout the state, which he named as ‘Operation Wuta-Wuta’.

The Acting Governor said the vehicle would be distributed for patrol across the state to beef up security in all nooks and crannies to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people in the state.

He said his administration was doing everything possible to make life better for the people and commended the joint patrol team for restoring normalcy in Bali local government area, adding that more security personnel had been mobilized to the local government area in that regard.

Receiving the keys of the vehicles on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, the Assistant Inspector General in-charge of Zone three Yola Jinjiri Mohammed expressed happiness for the gesture to the Police Force saying that the Police would make judicious use of the vehicles for the purpose intended.

Meanwhile, a youth activist in Wukari Local government area of Taraba state, Sani Samu Shukura has commended the state Acting Governor Alhaji Garba Umar for his peace initiative that led to the amicable resolution of conflicts in southern part of the state.

Shukura told our reporter in Wukari that their fore parents had stayed in the area together peacefully despite their ethnic, religious and political differences and wondered why the present generation has chosen to destroy the enduring bond.

He said the Acting Governor has a good intention for Taraba state but that some influential people do not want him to achieve that for political reasons.

Shukura advised the Acting Governor to use whatever powers at his disposal to check the excess of politicians who do not have the progress of the area and the state at heart.

He requested the warring factions in southern Taraba to abide by the terms of agreement signed and warned against allowing people to continue to destroy places of worship and houses of those who had fled.

The youth activist commended the chief of Ibi Abubakar Salihu Danbawuro for his effort in controlling the tension in his domain.
