Jang signs Plateau’s N225bn 2014 budget into law

Plateau Governor, Jang,Gov. Jonah Jang of Plateau state, yesterday signed the 2014 Appropriation Bill of N225 billion into law.

The budget, christened “budget of continuity and inclusive growth” had a recurrent of N81.9 billion and a capital expenditure of N143 billion.

Jang said that he was signing the Appropriation Act because it had received the approval of the House of Assembly.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor on Dec. 19 presented a budget of N228.7 billion to the assembly before it was reduced and passed on Feb. 14.

According to him, the driving force behind the budget is my administration’s conviction in service delivery and in keeping with our covenant toward proactive service delivery as ultimate.

He said that the bane of budget implementation was monitoring, and called on the State Planning Commission to ensure that the Ministries Department Agencies complied with the budgetary provisions.

“I charge all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to immediately commence the process of budget approval.

“Ministries, Departments and Agencies are, therefore, advised to strengthen their internal monitoring machinery and all expenditures should be carried out based on budgetary provisions.’’ (NAN)
