Journalism association partners Australian, Romanian, Jamaican envoys

The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN), an umbrella body of journalists covering foreign beats in Nigeria had concluded plans to partner the newly appointed Envoys of Australia, Romania and Jamaica on better reportage to deepen relations with Nigeria.
In a statement released in Abuja at the weekend, jointly signed by Comrades Idehai Frederick and Emeka Amakor, Chairman and General Secretary of DICAN respectively, it noted, “The Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) congratulates the Australian, Jamaican and Romania High Commissioners and Ambassador to Nigeria.
“The Association also calls for partnership with the newly-appointed Ambassadors and the Diplomatic Community which guarantees quality media reporting and sustains the existing economic, cultural, military, education, energy and diplomatic relations with Nigeria.
“DICAN assures the High Commissioner of Jamaica, Lincoln Downer; High Commissioner of Australia, Leilani Bin-Juda and the Ambassador of Romania, Florin Talapan of its support in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and relevant laws to ensure they succeed in their endeavours.
“The Association also uses the occasion to appreciate President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar who was recently conferred DICAN’s GRAND PATRON, for the nation’s foreign policy direction anchored on democracy, development, demography and diaspora (4D).
“DICAN, however, urges the newly appointed Ambassadors and the entire Diplomatic Community to embrace the 4D policy for enhanced mutual relationships” the statement noted.
It called be recalled that Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association of Nigeria (DICAN) is an umbrella body of over fifty (50) Correspondents and Editors from the Electronic, Print, New Media (Online) and Wire Services officially assigned by their mediums to report the diplomatic beat.
