Jubilation erupts in Kaduna over rural electrification work, funds for SMEs

Date:

*…Orders ‘immediate investigation’ into military airstrike on Muslim worshippers*

There has been wild jubilation in Kaduna Monday noon as the rural electrification project for Zone 1, rounds off. The Zone covers eight local government areas of the State, namely Ikara, Kubau, Kudan, Lere, Makarfi, Sabon Gari, Soba, and Zaria.

It would be recalled that Governor Uba Sani flagged off the rural electrification project last week.

A community leader in Kaduna Alhaji Abdullahi Yahaya Anchau described the governor’s rural renewal policy as “the best in the history of the State, as it’s the fast means of giving back to rural folks the reward for their loyalty and love for Kaduna”.

In the same vein, arrangements have reached advanced stage for the release of millions of naira to Small Scale Enterprises in Kaduna State, to help them grow their business.

A market women leader, Hajiya Fauziyya Mohammed noted that small scale businesses in Kaduna will now start flourishing, due the “new institutional push by a governor so in love with the poor”.

Meanwhile, Governor Uba Sani has also ordered immediate investigation into last night’s military airstrike that was reported to have mistakenly killed worshippers in the middle of the night. He said it was with deep shock the news of the death of Muslim worshippers, from a military airstrike on Tudun Biri village, Afaka ward of Rigasa District of Igabi Local Government, and ordered evacuation of the victims.

“I have also directed the immediate evacuation of the injured to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for emergency medical attention. The Government will be responsible for their treatment and related logistics.

He then appealed to the affected community and entire citizens of the State to keep calm and continue to support the security forces and the state government in the battle against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers and other criminal elements in the State.
