Kano Hisbah nabs gay couple about to wed

Kano state Hisbah command said it has scuttled the ‘wedding’ of two gay men in their twenties about to wed in Kano and has arrested the ‘husband’ to be while the ‘bride’ is at large.

The Kano state commander of the Hisbah, Sheik Aminu Daurawa dropped the hint yesterday in his office while parading one Faruk Maiduguri who is the alleged husband to be alongside fourteen others that were at the venue of the botched event.

Daurawa revealed that operatives of the Hisbah swooped on the men at Hills and Valley a recreational resort in Dawakin Kudu in the outskirt of Kano metropolis, after they got intelligence report that some youths, all men, were planning a wedding of two of their friends.

He said Faruk and Abba (bride) who is on the run had under the guise of celebrating Faruk birthday sent out invitation on WhatsApp and printed out cards that friends should join them in the epoch-making event.

The commander added that but for the timely intervention of his men, Faruk and his friends would have been lynched by irate youths of the adjourning community that have mobilized to attack them over the news of the forbidden event that filtered to the people of the town.

Faruk denied getting married to Abba in an interview with newsmen, saying that they were at the venue to celebrate his birthday and that he is not a homosexual as being accused by men of the Hisbah board.
