Kano, Lagos top as INEC ends fresh voter registration

The Continuous Voter’s Registration (CVR) exercise, which the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), embarked upon some months back, formally ended on Sunday with the number of completed registration put at 12,298,944 by the commission.

This was contained in a CVR update for quarter 4, week 16 as at 7am, Monday 1st August 2022 by the Commission in Abuja, yesterday.

The update, made available by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC, Mr. Rotimi Oyekanmi, put the number of fresh registrants within the period at 10,487,972.

The update indicated that the registration was done by physical and online methods.

The number of those registered through online was 3,444,378, while those done physically stood at 8,854,566

While a total of 6,074,078 males were registered, the number of female registrants stood at 6,224,866.

A total of 87,083 persons with disability (PWDs) were registered within the period.

The number of youths population registered stood at 8,784,677.

According to the CVR Update, “Fresh Registrants: 10,487,972. Completed Registration: 12,298,944.

“Type: Online – 3,444,378: Physical – 8,854,566

“Male: 6,074,078. Female: 6,224,866

PWDs: 87,083. Youths: 8,784,677”, it said.

However, the breakdown of the CVR exercise showed that the leading state is Lagos, with 585, 629, white Kano has 569,103, with the least being Ekiti state with 124844 and Yobe state with 152414.
