Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) has partnered with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) to establish a Civic and Voter Education Community Development Service (CDS) group for corps members nationwide.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by KDI’s Communications Manager, Mercy Abiem, and made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday.
According to the statement, the collaboration was formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on 11 March 2026 at the NYSC National Headquarters.
KDI said the partnership was aimed at expanding civic education efforts and strengthening democratic participation across the country.
Under the initiative, thousands of corps members serving in Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will be mobilised to promote voter and civic education within their host communities.
“The programme will leverage the extensive national reach and community engagement structure of the NYSC scheme, enabling voter education messages to reach diverse and underserved populations,” the statement noted.
It added that the initiative would ensure voter education campaigns remain accurate, inclusive and aligned with national electoral guidelines and civic mobilisation standards.
KDI described the move as a major step towards institutionalising youth-led civic engagement in Nigeria, stressing that embedding voter education within the NYSC structure would provide a sustainable platform for young Nigerians to support democratic culture and electoral integrity.
The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting democratic governance, advancing electoral accountability and expanding civic participation through strategic partnerships and innovative programmes.
