From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Senior Special Assistant to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Animal Husbandry, Alhaji Shehu Tambaya has condemned claims by the Nasarawa State chapter of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) that his Principal was behind the alleged killing of over 1000 cows by the military recently.
Tambaya also gave the Association 48 hours to tender an unreserved apology to Governor Ortom for dragging his name into the matter.
It would be recalled that the MACBAN in Nasarawa State on Tuesday, accused Governor Ortom of sponsoring multiple attacks on them with two(2) military aircrafts which purportedly killed over 1,000 cows in Keana and Doma Local Government Areas of the State.
The Governor’s aide who wondered when it has now become the responsibility of a Governor to command the military in this country, reminded MACBAN of the shoot at sight order of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Is it that they are now claiming that they are not aware of the shoot at sight order of President Buhari to the military about anyone found holding illegal weapons? Why are they now blaming my principal for their woes?
“It’s like Ortom’s name is too sweet in the mouth of these people, that is why they like mentioning him in just anything and everything,” the Governor’s aide stated.
Tambaya who reminded the pastorialists that there is a law banning open grazing in Benue, again warned that anyone who flouts the law should be ready to face the wrath of the law if caught.
Tambaya who commended Governor Ortom for always standing on the path of truth, therefore urged the Association to stop their continued propaganda against his principal and rather work towards the unity of this country.
