An elder statesman and former Governor of old River State, General Zamani Lekwot said the killings and massacre in some parts of the country has no religion undertone, but the handiwork of criminals and mischief-makers.

He stated this at joint service held for Imams and Traditional Rulers yesterday by the ECWA Church, Tudun Nupawa in Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

According to General Lekwot, it is time for all well meaning Nigerians to note that the perpetrators of the evil act are neither Christians nor Muslims because the dictates of the two religions frowns at wanton destruction of innocent lives and properties.

“We have to wake up from our slumber and come to teams that Christianity and Islam preaches against these killing that is going on in the country. “Lekwot said.

Speaking in the same vain, the Chief Imam of Salamat Jumat Mosque Tudun Wada, Sheik Dairu Adamu said it is time for Christians and Muslims to come together and confront those who killed their children,

wives and husbands all in the belief that they are fighting for God they themselves did not even understand.

The village Head of Tudun Wada, Dr. Yusuf Nadabo in his own remark said the problems between Islam and Christianity is the misinterpretation of the two faiths by some extremists. He called on the followers of the two religions to ensure that they understand the teaching of their religion and guided by it.

The pastor of ECWA Church, Lemu Road, Reverend Yunusa Nmodu said the church decided to invite its Muslims brother to the service to show that there is little difference between Islam and Christianity.

“This is the time that we all must come out in one voice and condemn the killing of our people by those who don’t even understand the Holy Bible and the Glorious Qur’an”, he said.
