Court remands man, 35, for alleged attempt to defile 11–yr old girl

girl-crying-rapeAn Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun yesterday remanded a 35-year old man, Hammed Olanrewaju, in prison custody for alleged attempt to defile 11-year-old girl.

Olanrewaju, who lives at No. 21 Bosun Street, Akute, Ota, committed the offence on March 22, at Erin-Ota, in Ota.

The accused was arraigned on a one-count charge of attempting to rape an underage girl.

Prosecutor Mustapha Abdul Kareem told the court that the accused, who was the husband of the elder sister of the complainant, committed the crime at No. 41, Ishashi Road, Akute, Ota.

Abdul Kareem said the accused committed the offence at about 9 p.m., noting that he locked up his victim and administered a noxious substance, before attempting to defile her.

The Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, remanded the accused in prison custody, and adjourned the case till May 28 for consideration of the application for bail. (NAN)
