Stakeholders in the Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State have praised Governor Uba Sani for the ongoing construction of a 17-kilometer road and other infrastructure projects aimed at boosting local livelihoods.
The praise was voiced during a project inspection tour conducted with government officials and community leaders.
During the visit, stakeholders inspected the newly built Government Junior Secondary School in Udammi and a hospital currently under construction by the Kaduna State Government in Kaku Kasa community.
Chairman of Lere Local Government, *Alhaji Jafaru Ahmed*, called the road project a major relief for residents and motorists who had endured years of hardship on that route.
Ahmed explained that the road used to cause severe commuting problems, with travelers spending over 2 hours to cover just 2 kilometers due to its poor condition.
He noted that the ongoing construction has greatly reduced travel time and improved access to nearby communities that were once isolated during the rainy season.
The chairman thanked Governor Sani for kick-starting the project and expressed hope that it would transform socio-economic activities in Lere and the surrounding areas.
He prayed that the project would be completed on time, noting the quick pace and quality of work observed on-site.
Ahmed also appreciated the state government for extending infrastructure development to Lere, emphasizing that the area has long been underserved.
He pledged continued support from the people of Lere for the government’s development programs and policies.
During the inspection, the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, *Alhaji Abubakar Buba*, said the visit aimed to evaluate the quality and progress of the project.
Buba noted that the tour reflected the stakeholders’ appreciation of the governor’s commitment to fair infrastructure development across the state.
He disclosed that the 17-kilometer road is over 85% complete and that the work quality by the contractor is satisfactory.
According to the commissioner, this is the first asphalt road of its length in the Kayarda area of Lere Local Government.
He said the road will improve transportation, boost economic activities, and enhance residents’ living conditions by connecting rural communities to markets and healthcare facilities.
Buba also mentioned that Governor Sani has launched about 150 road projects across the 23 local government areas, covering approximately 1,355 kilometers.
He stressed that no local government in the state has been left out of these infrastructure development efforts.
The commissioner also visited a two-story secondary school under construction in the Kaku community.
He explained that the school, with over 12 classrooms, will meet the educational needs of communities that have been seeking such facilities for more than 20 years.
Buba praised the governor for responding swiftly to their educational and infrastructural needs, calling it a sign of people-centered governance.
He reaffirmed the support of stakeholders for the state government’s development agenda.
Community members who joined the inspection also thanked Kaduna State Governor, *Sen. Uba Sani*, for prioritizing development through road construction and other social projects.
Additionally, the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board, *Prof. Yahaya Sale Ibrahim said the road project has been well-received due to its historical importance and socio-economic benefits.
Ibrahim explained that the road is the Trans-Saharan route, popularly known as the Trans-Saharan trade route, through which slaved people were transported decades ago.
He described its reconstruction as a way to reclaim history and as a major step toward restoring the area’s status as a key commercial and cultural corridor.
He added that the new secondary school will offer educational opportunities for underserved communities, improve access to quality education, and help foster unity among the local populations.
With the road nearing completion and new schools and health facilities opening, stakeholders said Lere LGA is experiencing one of its most significant development waves in recent years under the current administration.
