The Committee of College Librarians in Nigeria (COCIN) on Tuesday held the national conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the association at the FCT College of Education Zuba.
In his welcome address at the occasion, the Chairman of COCLIN, Dr. Ainoko Samson, disclosed that the association had witnessed the upgrading of six federal Colleges of Education to the Federal University of Education.
“The forum enables Colleges of Education Librarians
especially those from Public Colleges to come together to discuss issues of concern pertaining to the profession and the Colleges of Education Libraries with a view to improving the quality, standard and improved services delivery in our libraries, aimed at providing quality service to our academic communities and researches”.
Also speaking, the provost of the FCT College of Education Zuba, Dr. Sule Mundi.
He said his administration would not hesitate to support the College librarians in all ramifications.
Presenting the theme of the national conference tagged: The 5th Industrial Revolution and the Future of Library/Information Services
Delivery in a Changing world: College of Education Perspectives”, the
keynote speaker, Prof. Abdulrazaq Baba Abudlrahman from the Federal
University Lafia, Nasarawa State, urged the Librarians to deem it necessary to go to school in order to upgrade their knowledge.
Abdulrahman also charged the Chief Executives of Colleges of Education to send their librarians to the conferences to learn new skills/technologies.
