MC TAGWAYE DEFECTS FROM APC TO SDP, CITES LACK OF INTERNAL DEMOCRACY AND YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

Date:

Renowned entertainer, businessman, politician, and youth leader, Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, has announced his resignation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

This development was made public through a press statement personally signed by MC Tagwaye himself, which was made available to journalists and newsmen on Friday in the nation’s capital, Abuja.

In a stunning revelation, MC Tagwaye has laid bare the motivations behind his dramatic exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing a profound disillusionment with the party’s abandonment of its founding principles. After months of intense soul-searching and consultation, the charismatic entertainer-turned-politician concluded that the APC had irreparably strayed from its original ideals, leaving him no choice but to jump ship.

He also cited the APC’s lack of reward system for loyal members, its gerontocratic leadership structure, and policies that perpetuate hardship on low-income earners as reasons for his defection. Furthermore, Tagwaye lamented the APC’s compromised internal democracy, where a few power brokers dictate the party’s direction and disregard the voices and aspirations of the majority.

In contrast, Tagwaye is drawn to the SDP’s commitment to youth empowerment, internal democracy, transparency, and accountability. He praised the party’s vision for a new Nigeria, where the welfare and progress of all citizens are paramount, saying it resonates deeply with him.

“I have formally submitted my resignation to my ward chairman of the APC, marking the end of my association with the party. I am excited to join the SDP and contribute to the party’s mission to build a better Nigeria for all,” Simon said.

“I urge all Nigerians who share my vision to join me on this journey. Together, we can create a brighter future for ourselves, our children, and our great nation,” he said.

Obinna Simon was a prominent figure in the last presidential election, serving as a vital member of the Tinubu/Shettima presidential campaign team. This high-profile team was instrumental in promoting the candidacy of Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettima, leveraging their collective expertise to shape the campaign’s strategy and messaging. As a key player on this team, he brought his unique blend of creative flair, political savvy, and grassroots appeal to the table, helping to amplify the campaign’s reach and impact.
