The Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Gombe state branch has called on governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya to consider and approve the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage that was approved by the federal government.
Chairman of the association, Benjamin Sati made the call in a communique during its general meeting, which was issued to Journalists in Gombe.
He said regarding to the statement by the governor has increased tension particularly the decision not to implement the approved minimum wage of N70,000.
The chairman said the decision not to pay the approved minimum wage in coincided with the commencement of the nationwide end bad governance protest has course frustration and disappointment among residents.
According to him, leadership requires not only tough decision but should also communicate decision with empathy and respect.
He urged the governor.to dialogue with residents, labour unions, and other relevant stakeholders to find a lasting solution to the wage dispute and other pressing issues.
“The Nigeria Bar Association Gombe state branch is committed to support the government in its efforts to ensure the prosperity and stability of the state”,he added.
