The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Dr. Stephen Oru, has lamented the slow pace of work by the contractors at various cassava processing plants in the nine states of the Niger Delta region.

A statement by Salisu Na’inna Dambatta, a Director of Information in the ministry informed that the ministry had established several cassava processing plants in various locations in the nine states of the region to empower farmers, as well as to add value to the cassava they produce and derive more reward from their labour.

The Minister, the statement said, made the disclosure while inspecting the construction of a Skills Acquisition Centre in Otuoke and two of the seven cassava processing plants including some sections of the East-West road project, in Bayelsa state.
