Ahmed Musa has said that he hopes to score again against Argentina in this month’s friendly.
Musa scored twice against the Albiceleste three years ago at the World Cup in Brazil, as the former world champions beat Nigeria 3-2, and the 25-year old is looking forward to doing it again.
Nigeria’s readiness for next year’s World Cup in Russia will be tested to the full by Argentina on November 14 in Krasnodar.
“I have scored against them before and if given the opportunity I will love to do it again,” he was quoted. Argentina will go on to reach the championship game against Germany in Brazil.
And Ahmed Musa said a win over them will lift the self-belief of the Super Eagles.“Argentina played in the World Cup final in 2014 and all their players are world-class,” Musa said again.
“We need to be positive and confident when playing this type of game, victory will do our confidence as a team a lot of good and our ranking will improve.”
“I want to commend the NFF and coach Rohr for this very good friendly vs Argentina. “It is a very good game for our team. “
Meanwhile, The U20 Women National Team, Falconets, will arrive in Casablanca, Morocco on Friday morning ahead of a 2018 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifying match against their Moroccan counterparts.
Nigeria reached the second round of the African qualifying campaign after 9-0 aggregate trouncing of their Tanzanian counterparts in September. On arriving in Casablanca on Friday morning aboard a Royal Air Maroc flight from Lagos, the Falconets’ delegation will be flown to Sale, a city some 100 kilometres from Rabat, where they will battle the Moroccan U20 girls on Sunday evening.
Determined to overcome opponents Morocco in Sunday’s match, Coach Christopher Danjuma has disclosed that he has enough information about the host team and will come up with the strategy to emerge victorious.
Speaking to newsmen, Danjuma posited that his team has worked hard enough to pick a win in Morocco after many weeks of being together and on the strength of the two-legged victories over Tanzania in September. He also boasted that Morocco would not pose any serious problems against Nigeria’s quest to pick one of the two World Cup tickets to represent Africa in France next year.
“I can assure Nigerians that we know much about our opponents. We have been able to lay hands on a video of Morocco’s last qualifying fixture against Senegal and we have watched and analyzed the game. We will come up with the right tactics to overpower them.”
Danjuma revealed that he has put his girls through their paces and have perfected the winning formula hence the technical crew remains optimistic of grinding out a victory in Morocco.
Meanwhile, Danjuma has revealed that the 18 players selected for the battle of Morocco are those who distinguished themselves in the training sessions and the friendly matches the Falconets played against three different Boys’ Academy teams in the past weeks.
