Benue State Governor Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia said his endorsement by the Ijir Tamen I Tiv (Supreme Council of the Tiv Nation), for a second term in office is a historic pronouncement and unique gesture, coming from the apex traditional authority of the Tiv Nation which is both humbling and deeply inspiring.
This is just as the opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, in the state outrightly condemned the endorsement of the Governor by the Tiv Traditional Council, TTC as ‘partisan’.
The TTC at the weekend during its council meeting at the Tor Tiv Palace, Gboko unanimously endorsed the Governor for a second term in office.
It was learnt that the Tor Jemghagh overseeing Gboko, Tarka, Buruku Afatyo Ajoko was opposed to the endorsement.
While appreciating the Tor Tiv His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh Prof. James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse, Tor Tiv V, for the endorsement in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula.
Highlight of the event was the symbolic administration of the vaccine to a dog by the Executive Chairman.
