Nasarawa United Steal Show at Governor’s Cup Award Ceremony

Nasarawa United FC was recognised as the Best Football Club(Male) in Nasarawa State during the Governor’s Cup Award Ceremony held at the Conference Hall of Ta’al Hotels, Lafia, last weekend.
The prestigious recognition symbolizes the Club’s hard work, dedication, team work and achievements displayed by our players, coaches and staff throughout the previous season where the team gained promotion to the elite Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, from the 2nd tier, Nigeria National League, NNL.
Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, received the award on behalf of the Club, amidst top-class personalities including the Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule(represented by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe); former Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr. Abdullahi Adamu(represented by Nuraini Abdullahi Adamu); President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, alongside officials of the Nigerian football fraternity; Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango; Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Dr. Ibrahim Adamu Alhassan; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasarawa State, Dr. Aliyu Bello; Chief Barr. Isaac Danladi, immediate past Permanent Secretary, Nasarawa State Ministry of Youth and Sports Development; and Chairperson of Nasarawa Amazons FC, Hajiya Hussaina Suleiman Nagogo.
In the same vein, our quintessential Captain, King Osanga(MON), received the ‘Legend Award’ on the night, having steered the Solid Miners back to the top-flight after just one season in the lower division.
For us, these historic and highly coveted acknowledgements are morale boosters to continue to excel in the league and make the State and her people proud.
The Award ceremony which was held on Saturday, 26th October, 2024, was organized by the Nasarawa State Football Association under the leadership of Salisu Galadima ‘Basira’.
In the final of the Governor’s Cup, Lafia Local Government Area thrashed Nasarawa Local Government Area 4-1 to be crowned champions, while Karu defeated Keffi Local Government Area to win the 3rd-place position.
