From: Nosa Akenzua, Asaba

Piqued by the disturbing power deficiency in the country, Delta State Government on Thursday called on Federal Government to liberalize the power sector and allow independently generated process for the consumption of electricity.
Responding to topical issues in an exlcusive interview with our Correspondent in Asaba, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr Charles Aniagwu urged the Federal Government to step up deliberate efforts to improve power supply, lamenting that in the last twenty years Nigeria as a country, had suffered untold hardship in the area of power supply.
He noted that the abysmal failure in leadership of the country, had immensely contributed to the poor power supply.
Aniagwu however disclosed that” The amount of power that we generate in Delta State, if left in Delta, we may not fully consume it but because it has to be emptied into national grid and then distributed to the rest of the country, you will discover that you may be producing and the people don’t have enough”.
