ESV. John made this known to Journalists yesterday in Abuja .

He gave an insight saying that
recently, the International Project Managers day was celebrated with the theme, The Power trio; Project, leadership and agile. “It is apt to discuss this as project management is evolving and Estate Surveyors and Valuers who are major players in this should key into trends globally accepted
“This theme calls to mind that modern project success is no longer a solo act but a harmonious blend of three factors as indicated in this year’s theme.
“It focuses on the essential skills modern professionals need to succeed. The trio elements represent: The What (The project and its purpose) The Who (The leadership and its people) and The How (The agile process and its adaptation) of bringing a vision to life”, he said.
He maintained that the project is a collection of ‘’North Star’’.
“It looks at the collective objective of the project, the impact it needs to make and the desired outcome. Once this is done, the project manager develops a strategy (the plan to get there) and set priorities (The focus area to ensure success).”.
He said that the project manager is to ensure that everyone on the team understands the mission and feels a personal connection. “It looks at the specific goal, outcome and scope of the work.
Leadership is the compass (The Who). It is about influence, empathy and vision. “
He said that project leadership means serving the team, removing impediments, protecting focus, providing the resources people need to excel, courageous communication, giving clear ,direct and emphatetic feedbackCasting a vision connecting daily efforts back to the overall project purpose.
“It involves inspiring the project team”.
He added that the Project Manager leads through trust and not command.
“It is the human bridge between strategy and execution. It involves setting the vision, inspiring the team and making tough decisions.
He said that a agile is the mindset that allows us to thrive during uncertainty, it is about being nimble, it drives continuous learning, Rapid feedback and seamless adoption. It embraces change, deliver of value often, prioritizing people (valuing collaboration and interaction over rigid documentation). It ensures flexibility and adaptability by adapting to changes and new requirements quickly, it allows for iterative progress by encouraging breaking work into manageable parts and delivering value incrementally, it adopts collaboration and feedback by ensuring team work, communication and continuous feedback loops.
When project (Purpose), Leadership (people), and agile(process) work in concert, they create an unstoppable force.
The modern project manager is a conductor of this powerful trio, a strategic visionary, a compassionate leader and an adaptive thinker.
