NGO urges Numan Council to improve education, health, others

A Non Governmental Organization under the auspices Rule of Law And Empowerment Initiative,charged executive arm of Numan Local government Area in Adamawa state to do more in areas of education,health, security and socio-Economic welfare to their electorates.
Program Assistant of the NGO, Nkem Okereke disclosed the development in Numan Thursday during the official release of scorecard findings on Numan local government service delivery.
He noted that the programme was aimed at closing the gab between the government and the governed.
Okereke said the NGO also known as (PWAN) in a bid to strengthen and improve service delivery within the local government structure through its ACCESS Nigeria (II ) project partnered with two LGAs,Numan & Demsa to conduct an assessment of their services delivered to citizens.
He added that advocacy visits were undertaken by the organization in these councils as 20 citizens were recruited and trained across the two councils, stressing that a thorough assessment was conducted before arriving to its findings.
In her keynote address on the project, Tobiloba Adekunle, Program Intern,PWAN said in education sector the state government has provided many schools with desks and chairs but that the quality of teachers is not encouraging.
Adekunle announced that 52 primary schools,32 Primary Health care centers as well as 27 communities were observed and that government needs to put more attention in addressing various challenges militating against these segments .
