Niger crisis: Northern group writes President Tinubu

As the crisis in Niger Republic deepened a socio political group has written an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urged him to ensure a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
This was contained in an open letter addressed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed and made available to the media in Kaduna yesterday.
The letter, was signed by Kabiru S. Chapel of Arewa Research and Development Project, Babayola M. Toungo,
Arewa Research & Development Project, Abubakar Siddique Mohammed Centre for Democratic Development, Research and Training, Massoud Omar Centre for Democratic Development, Research and Training Hajiya Rabi Saulawa.

Other signatories are Mrs. Doshiya Barwa Aboy Jam’iyyar Matan Areas, Hashim Tom Maiyashi Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations and Ms. Latifa Abdulsalam Joint Action Committee of Northern Youth Associations The group said Military intervention, especially in times of political instability, can lead to the violation of human rights and the erosion of democratic principles.
They added that the presence of the armed forces could increase the likelihood of extrajudicial killings, torture, arbitrary detentions, and the suppression of freedom of expression and assembly.
