Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has said that the cost implications of the renovation, expansion  furnishing and equipping the general hospital Kontagora is about N2 billion due to its price variations.

Governor Bello disclosed this in an interview shortly after an unscheduled visit to the hospital to assess the level of work,

He, however, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing renovation and expansion work.

According to him, similar renovation work is ongoing in Tunga Magajiya General Hospital, Rijau local government, and Suleja General Hospital, Suleja.

He said apart from overhauling the general hospitals across the state, the government was also paying attention to other facilities such as Primary Healthcare (PHC) and Secondary healthcare facilities.

The governor also added that some Primary health facilities were being upgraded to secondary facilities in some local government areas and have achieved one functional health care center in each of the 274 wards in the state.
