The Wife of Niger State Governor and founder of Raise Foundation, Dr Amina Abubakar Bello, has assured that she will continue to treat and rehabilitate Vesico Vagina Fistula (VVF) patients as a priority interventions of her NGO.
Dr Amina Bello who is also the Chairperson Northern Governor’s Wives Forum disclosed this at the commissioning of the Women Health Centre in Kontagora , however, appealed to well to do individuals and corporate organisations to support the health centre to sustain her services.
She said the appeal was necessitated by to the stigmatization faced by patients of Obstetric Fistula every day at health care centres and tehe urgent need to bring that to an end.
Dr Amina Bello further explained that she decided to establish the hospital in Kontagora for the purpose of addressing and assisting women suffering from obstetric fistula in Niger state, even as she hinted that the construction and equipping of the women health centre was made possible through partnership with Mainstream Foundation.
The Hospital she added, has been provided necessary equipment for surgical treatment and post- operation management, including a 20 bed hostel for patients to stay for at least a month while recuperating.
Dr Amina Abubakar Bello further disclosed that a skill acquisition centre has also been included in the hospital, to train patients with skills to help empower them to be self reliant after being discharged from the hospital.
