The Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger state Council has called on the state government to expedite action to ensure the safe release of abducted persons in the state.
The Chapel in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Yakubu Mustapha Bina and the Secretary Daniel Okpole Atori urged the government and security agencies to hasten their release
The statement urged the Government and relevant agencies to put up required strategies to ensure the timely release of the state Commissioner for Information Mohammed Sani Idris and the Niger state Zone C chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Malam Aminu Bobi who was abducted on Saturday in his farm in Mariga Local Government Area.
The statement added that measures be put in place for the release of the 136 Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school children, in Tegina, Rafi LGA who have spent nine weeks in the hands of their abductors.
It however commended the government and joint task force for the success stories so far in repelling armed bandits.
