Some journalists in Nigerian state have been trained fake news, misinformation and disinformation.

The Executive Director of the Glowing Minds Initiatives for Human Development, Shamsudeen Abdulrazak urged them to positively represent the profession.

Shamsudeen explained the negative impact and consequences of the new trending issue in which journalists fall victim in their curiosity to break news without proper verification.

He lamented over the negative implications to the journalistic integrity, hence the need to reverse the trend and changing the narrative through training of professionals on how to identify fake news, verify sources and fact checking as well as the use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to ensure credibility and reliability.

Another resource person, Dr. Sa’adat Adetoro Salau of Federal University of Technology FUT, Minna further highlighted on how to verify video on social media, You Tube Data viewer and sources of fact checking tools for journalists among others.
