A group of youths identified as Concern Shiroro Youths has urged Governor Abubakar Sani Bello to urgently take a decisive action to flush out criminals and restore security that will guarantee peace in the affected areas.
The President of Shiroro Progressive Forum and Convener of the group, Bello Ibrahim in a press briefing in Minna, added that the IDP camps should immediately be made more habitable by providing the necessary facilities required.
The group decried that Governor Belli has not personally visited and sympathized with the displaced people despite the recent killing of about 27 of joint taskforce.
The Convener confirmed that no fewer than 27 of the military, police, civil defense consisting of the security taskforce fighting insurgency and three civilians were killed in an ambush at Kofa in Gamadima Kogo of Shiroro local government of Niger State.
While briefing newsmen, Ibrahim stated that the 8 political wards in Lakpma axis with a total of 41 communities have experienced different kinds of attacks from 9th December, 2019 to date.
The Convener, Bello Ibrahim, who confirmed the deaths stated that there are pictorial evidences which showed that there were military and police casualties during the attack.
It would be recalled that unknown gunmen attacked two villages of Galkogo and Zumba in Shiroro local government area of Niger State on Sunday killing and injuring people.
“I can authoritatively tell you that the impact of the Sunday attack was devastating because Galkogo town is one of the biggest in the axis. There were casualties involving military and policemen.
“27 military men and policemen were killed during the attack. How they were killed, we do not know but I can tell you that we have pictorial evidences.
“Right now, their corpse are with the authorities. The way they were killed is still very sketchy,” he said
The group has further accused the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) of not leaving to the expectations of the citizens and lack proactive ness despite a huge funds released to the agency however lambasted the agency Public Relations Officer Hussaini Ibrahim over his statement issued on IDPs in Kuta urging for its retraction.
