No hunger protest in Benue

Benue State witnessed calm and peace as there was heavy police deployment in strategic places in Makurdi, the State capital.
Our correspondent reported that there was heavy presence of security agencies in Government House where an Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC is stationed.
Also, the State Secretariat and Cabinet office which houses the office of the Secretary to State Government though, opened but there were no staff at work.
Similarly, all Federal and state government as well as parastatals and agencies including Central Bank, State Emergency Management Agency, local government secretariat and Power Holding Company of Nigeria office located close to the Government House, were heavily manned by Police and men of Civil Defense Corps.
It was observed that, all security agencies in the State led by the Commissioner of Police Hassan Steve Yabanet went round the town in a show of force.
Briefing newsmen at the Police Command Headquarters, CP Yabanet who acknowledged the rights of groups or individuals to protest, stressed that it must be done within the ambit of the law.
