The Director of Media and Publicity, Presidential Support Committee PSC on the Achievement of President Muhammadu Buhari, Engr Kailani Muhammad has appealed to the Federal Government and Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to find a common ground and resolve the lingering crises that has brought the Education Sector to its knees over the years.
He asserted this during a press conference held in Kaduna yesterday.
According to him, Nigerians heaved sighs of relief when they were told that the FG and ASUU have come to terms with each other.
He, however, expressed dismay the pronouncement of no- work no pay position by the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu which ASUU rejected, might lead to another crises regime?
Engr Kilani who is the CEO of Liberator publication added that the country had already experienced over seven months old strike and is still counting while the disagreement is yet to be resolved.
“ The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU is now fighting tooth and nail to waive off the issue of No Work, No Pay as insisted by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.
“Although it was part of the nation’s laws, however I will like to call on the federal government to temper mercy with justice and pay all the outstanding salaries to the lectures.
“This will go a long way in halting the problem of brain drain and also support the lecturers to meet their obligations.
“ However the government should impose the law in case of any strike in the future. This development will help the nation out of the protracted strike, while parents and students would also smile.”
