The Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly – Nigeria (NOCRELA) has announced the appointment of new Patrons and Matrons to guide its mission of unity, reconciliation and Christian service.
In a statement issued in Abuja, National Chairman Archbishop John Praise and General Secretary Rev. Dr Simon A.S. Dolly said the appointments were made by the Assembly’s Board of Trustees.
According to the statement, the leaders were selected for their integrity, faith and contributions to nation-building and public leadership.
Among the Patrons named are Prof. Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information; Barr. Bala James Ngilari, former Governor of Adamawa State; Dr John Dara; Dr Danladi Kifasi, former Head of Service of the Federation; Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd.); Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim; and Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi (Rtd.).
The Matrons include former Minister of Finance Hon. Nanadi Usman, Amb. Esther Audu, former Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council, and Prof. Salamatu Machunga of the University of Abuja.
NOCRELA said the appointees would provide spiritual guidance, mentorship and leadership to the Assembly, drawing on their expertise in governance, education, ministry, security and diplomacy.
The statement added that the leaders would also promote peace, justice and greater inclusion of women and youth in leadership across Nigeria.
The investiture ceremony is scheduled for 2 October 2025 at Dominion Chapel International Church, Area 1, Garki, Abuja.
