As Nigeria marks her 65th independence anniversary, the Northern Nigeria Minorities Group (NNMG) in its goodwill message has described the occasion as fitting for a reflection on the nationhood of the country.
Convener of the group, Chief Jacob Edi in a statement on Tuesday said the anniversary offers another opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on their collective journey of nationhood which has spanned over the last six and a half decades.
Edi, a former Chairman of the FCT Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) further charged Nigerians irrespective of their status to preserve those attributes that have made the country to remain in unity and also resolve to remain as one indivisible nation, notwithstanding the various challenges she has faced.
“Our resilience, patience, and shared hope in the destiny of Nigeria have sustained us. We must salute the countless Nigerians who, in the face of adversity, have remained committed to the ideals of unity, peace, and progress. This is the core foundation upon which our nation is built.”
